Women Act is a national level, non-profit making, non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 2007 as a network of 35 other NGOs and women networks to address gender inequality and work for the empowerment of women and girls. Women Act is registered in District Administration Office (DAO) of Kathmandu and in Social Welfare Council (SWC) as a NGO. Women Act believes that, for Nepal to become a more democratic and to achieve development, it must give women equal access to resources and decision-making opportunities. Hence, gender equality is fundamental in achieving good governance, economic growth and development. Women Act has been active since its establishment involving NGO partners and networks that are working for the empowerment of Nepalese women. Broadly, Women Act has been working for the leadership, empowerment, training and capacity building of women and girls. We work for women and girls to empower them economically, socially and politically through advocacy, sensitization and lobbying for policy making to build an inclusive just society. Our programs and activities address pertinent issues that are affecting women’s development in Nepal, especially focusing on governance, gender inequality and marginalization of women and girls.
